5 Products We're Loving Post Chemical Peel

Posted by Sarah Kinsler-Holloway on

While all chemical peels are slightly different, and require different aftercare, we wanted to share with you some of our favorite products to use immediately after chemical peels to calm the skin.

Cryo Facial Caps

These are a lifesaver in the treatment room. They are little pills that contain a water-activated cryo mask.  They can be incorporated into any facial, but post chemical peel is especially nice. Not only do you get the cooling effect, but the cryocaps contain skin loving ingredients that help support recovery.  More on the ingredients, here!
Important tip: Not for use with Jessner peels or peels reactivated by water.

Derma Coolers

O'Melons Derma Coolers are a handheld facial tool that's filled with a special gel keeping it cool, even when not refrigerated!
We like to use the Derma Coolers to massage in a soothing serum or gel, like O'Melons Calming Gel. We also consider them essential when performing Zena's Algae Peel

Sheet Masks

Our two favorite sheet masks to use post chemical peel are O'Melons HC Mask or Avalon's Beta Glucan Mask. Both of these sheet masks are made of hydrogel, and are designed to calm the skin, accelerate healing and promote barrier health.
These masks instantly cool down the skin, no refrigeration needed!

KrX Cica Line

For aftercare we initially recommend applying KrX Repair Cream in the treatment room. They come in convenient little packets making them suitable to hand out to your clients or for creating an aftercare kit.
After that, we can't recommend KrX's Cica Line enough.   Cica, short for Centella Asiatica it an ancient skin-soothing ingredient that contains natural flavonoids, and phenolic compounds, making it a powerful antioxidant.  It protects the skin from external stressors such as pollution, and UV rays
Cica has also been shown to improve barrier function and locking in hydration.
The Cica Line contains four products:  Recovery cleanser, Ultra Healing Toner, Gentle Serum, and the All Day Cream

KrX Cica Sheet Masks

Another great retail option are the KrX Homecare masks.  They contain 20 sheet masks that are soaked in a concentrated essence of Centella Asiatica, and skin brightening ingredients that can help prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Polygonum Cupidatum Root, an ingredient widely used in Asia, is rich in resveratrol, an antioxidant shown to reverse free radical damage within the skin, and reduce hyperpigmentation.
Licorice Root, similarly, has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps inhibit melanin production, and break up areas of hyperpigmentation.
These can be used in the treatment room post peel, or sent home with your client!
Well there you have it. That's our line up of must-have backbar items for post chemical peels.  You could do an up charge for several of these, or create your own protocol to stand out from what everyone else is doing locally!
