Your Skin Barrier’s Best Friend: Lactobacillus

Posted by Sarah Kinsler-Holloway on

What the hell is Lactobacillus?

Lactobacillus is the largest genus within the group of lactic acid bacteria. It is a microorganism that greatly impacts the skin’s health and reinforces a healthy barrier.

With its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s excellent at treating acne and rosacea.  In fact, according to Baret Manufacturer, compared to salicylic acid, Lactobacillus worked faster at reducing the size and redness of acne lesions (management of acne, Dr John Craft).

Other benefits of Lactobacillus include: strengthens the skin barrier to protect it from environmental factors; increases hydration; soothes and builds the barrier, reducing sensitivities, and restoring the pH.

Lactozyme Solution Kit

Lactozyme by O’Melon Korea is a barrier repair kit that is great for all skin types, especially those with–you guessed it–impaired barriers.  This two part facial protocol includes stand out ingredients: Beta-Glucan, along with Meadowfoam Seed Oil, is composed of mostly fatty acids and antioxidants. This helps the skin retain moisture, thus helping to repair its barrier.

Adenosine, also a main component in the kit, is naturally found throughout the body and restores the skin at the cellular level.

Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a postbiotic compatible ingredient, and works synergistically with Lactobacillus.

How to Use

We recommend applying 1/4 a bottle of the Lactobacillus serum and nanoneedle into the skin. If the barrier is severely compromised we recommend skipping the needling step, and applying topically and infusing with electroporation.

Next apply the Lactozyme Barrier Repair cream and follow with a cryo cooling device.

We’ve found this a show stopper when it comes to impaired barriers. 1-2 treatments with proper home care can have your client ‘Lactobaci–loving’ their skin (sorry, we couldn’t resist)
